Michelle Tea is the author of over a dozen books of poetry, memoir, fiction, tarot how-too, children’s picture books and young adult fantasy. Her most recent, the essay collection Against Memoir: Complaints, Confessions and Criticisms, was longlisted for the 2019 PEN/Diamonstein-Speilvogel Award for the Art of the Essay. She is the creator of the international phenomenon Drag Queen Story Hour, the online parenting zineĀ Mutha, the long-running performance tour Sister Spit, and the Sister Spit Books series for City Lights. She currently curates the queer Amethyst Editions imprint at The Feminist Press, and co-curates and co-hosts JOSH, a monthly comedy house party, with the writer Tara Jepsen, in Los Angeles.
