Dear Public Access Poetry Supporter:
Our first experience with backing a project through “crowdfunding” was a huge success! We want to extend an enormous thank you to the 92 people who spread the word, contributed and FUNDED The Poetry Project’s Public Access Poetry Kickstarter campaign.
As you may know, the first 31 of the original Public Access Poetry tapes were digitized through a Consulting Fund re-grant from the New York State Literary Presenters Technical Assistance Program (LitTAP). Additional funding was made possible through the generosity of two anonymous donors. Your contributions quickly funded this project and now the last 16 Public Access Poetry open-reel tapes will get out of their boxes and into the hands of professionals sooner than later. Early in the New Year, they will be safely preserved and digitally transferred by The Standby Program at MercerMedia. Once the job is completed and the digital files are returned to us, they will be made accessible via PennSound and The Poetry Project’s website. We’ll keep you posted on their progress.
Thank you for keeping an essential, and until now, lost part of poetry’s history alive and preserved in accessible perpetuity.
Warm Regards,
The Poetry Project Staff
(Nicole, Arlo and Stacy)
